Penstemon Apple Blossom |
This penstemon is a bushy clump-forming plant with delicate pale pink flowers tinged with white and purple in the throat. A medium height plant of about 3ft (80cm). A prolific flowerer with a dense narrow foliage. The flowers on the larger cultivars can be so dense that they fail to fall when they 'go over', constant 'deadheading' is essential. Likes an open sunny position with good drainage and is fairly drought tolerant. Cutting back the seed heads after flowering will encourage more growth. Cut back to almost ground level in late spring. Flowering Season: Late June to the first frosts (A heavy frost will kill off the flowers but not the foliage).
